Breast Cancer Foundation

Every year, over 3500 New Zealanders are diagnosed with Breast Cancer. That is nine woman every day, of whom one will be Māori. Tragically, each year over 650 of them will die. About 25 of those diagnosed are men.

The Breast Cancer Foundation NZ (BCFNZ) want to see breast cancer reduced to a manageable disease – one that people don’t die from but live with. They have a single-minded mission to achieve this by pushing new frontiers in early detection, treatments, and patient support.

In 2021, Ford joined the BCFNZ family, supplying their nursing team, National Educator and CEO with three vehicles. This has enabled them to deliver much of the work listed below and move towards our mission of zero deaths.

• 1,492 people registered for our free webinars
• 3,879 calls were taken on our free breast nurse helpline
• 3,159 medical professionals were trained or reached with education
• 443,000 printed educational resources were distributed across NZ
• donated 2 new ultrasound machines for Whangarei hospital
• 1,394 patients were funded for counselling, physio and lymphoedema therapy
• 2,508 new patients’ data was recorded in the Breast Cancer Foundation National Register
• the Pink Caravan visited 49 towns around the country
• funded $1.9 million worth of research projects
• Pre-Check app was downloaded more than 13,000 times

On the road in 2021, BCFNZ nurses visited:

• 4,912 people visited the caravan (towed by signwritten vehicles).
• 87% of visitors were female
• 29% visitors were Maori

Most people who speak to the nurses are there to learn more about breast health and the early detection of breast cancer; other will approach our nurses with a number of different concerns.

Hibiscus Hospice

North Harbour Ford has been supporting Hibiscus Hospice for over 20 years. Hibiscus Hospice is a specialist, palliative care provider for families living in the Hibiscus Coast. They provide compassionate, free care working primarily with patients, families, whānau and carers in their homes, and within hospice sites. We are also ongoing supporters of many Hospice events, including the annual Hospice Fundraising Ball and the Hibiscus Coast Home and Garden show - fantastic events aimed at raising money to support the fantastic work the hospice does.

Westpac Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust

North Harbour Ford and North Harbour Mazda are proud supporters of the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust. ARHT provide professional emergency air ambulance, search and rescue services, and are staffed full-time by a highly experienced flight crew of pilots, paramedics and crewmen.

North Harbour Rugby

North Harbour Ford has been a proud supporter of North Harbour Rugby for many years. North Harbour Rugby is a provincial union based at home ground QBE Stadium in Albany. Their premier men’s team plays in the Mitre 10 Cup Premiership and their premier women’s team plays in the Farah Palmer Cup.
